Heidi and Linda were our first brides of the summer and the perfect way to kick off the season. Their day was filled with wide smiles and many tears, all of the happy variety. They hosted a small ceremony in the field behind the Morton Arboretum‘s Thornhill Education Center followed by a cocktail hour on the patio and reception inside. The ceremony was a beautiful service, officiated by the friend who introduced them, that included poignantly-written vows and a unity sand ceremony.
The floral, which was done by ZuZu’s Petals, featured a petal-covered aisle and four large flourishing vases on stands to frame the ceremony. Their bright pink, purple, and white palette complemented the May weather and blossoming flowers around the Morton grounds beautifully. The cocktail hour was decorated with petite arrangements on purple clothed hi-boys around the patio. The reception centerpieces were medium sized arrangements for the guest tables and smaller arrangements connected by long vines of greenery for their seventeen-person head table.
Some of our other favorite details from the day include their fun signs and delicious cocktail hour foods.
Every detail of the reception design was wonderfully curated. From the napkin folds which differed for the brides and the guests, the gobo lighting, and the elegant chairs and linens. The sweet little one-tier cake was designed by The Cakery. Heidi and Linda opted for a fun cupcake display for their dessert, keeping the cake for the tradition of cake-cutting and boxing up to take home.
